The experimental short film Genesis X, internationally titled GENSIS X, written and directed by Seyed Abbas Hosseini and produced by Hossein Etemadfar, has completed post-production and is ready to participate in domestic and international festivals.

The film’s synopsis states: “The Lumière brothers invented the camera, and now cameras are inventing humans.”

Genesis X is an endeavor to create a new structure in cinematic grammar, utilizing medical archives as the central narrative element. No traditional filming was involved in its production; instead, it combines medical footage such as radiographs, X-ray images, and surgical videos with AI-generated visuals. This approach, by limiting and reimagining storytelling tools, seeks to open a new window in narrative filmmaking.

The film’s title is inspired by the Book of Genesis, offering a fresh interpretation that reimagines the text within a modern context.

Another work from Rokh Film Company, Green Screen, has been selected for the “My Homeland Narrative” initiative at the 42nd Tehran Short Film Festival.
The crew of Genesis X includes:

Writer and Director: Seyed Abbas Hosseini
Producer: Hossein Etemadfar
AI Consultant: Fatemeh Shahdi
Sound Designer: Salman Abouzar
Color Assistant: Fatemeh Esmaeili
Archive Collector: Soroush Yasini
Researcher: Hossein Etemadfar
